EMDR Intensive Sessions

I am excited to now offering EMDR intensive sessions in Ancaster and in Burlington!

An EMDR intensive session is a concentrated EMDR session extended for a longer period of time and allowing for deeper processing of and adaptive resolution of traumatic experiences. Clients often choose EMDR intensive sessions as they feel more connected to their therapist when meeting for longer periods of time, and this makes all the difference when working to reprocess difficult experiences. Often times, there are parts of us with the best of intentions, working to protect us, and these parts need time and space to get comfortable with what is happening. Working for longer periods time allows the needed time and space to feel grounded, connected, and to fully embrace the healing that is needed to move forward.

In my practice, I recommend EMDR intensive sessions no less than 3.5 hours in length with a break half-way through to allow time to re-charge through nature, a coffee, water, or lunch break, or movement of your choosing.  Please know that EMDR intensive sessions can be longer than this time-frame and/or can even occur over more than one day.  EMDR intensive sessions are structured to fit your unique needs and goals.

Is An EMDR Intensive Session the Right Choice for Me?

EMDR intensive sessions are not the right choice for everyone, however often times I will recommend EMDR intensive sessions in the following instances:

-Do you have specific goals related to working through traumatic experiences and limited coverage for psychotherapy?

-Are you finding it hard to “start and stop” when meeting for weekly or biweekly sessions, like you have just started to get into something hard and then the clock is up-and then you have a hard time getting back there?

-Are you a busy professional, parent, or someone who otherwise has a hard time attending weekly/biweekly sessions?

-Are you working with another therapist already whom you have built a strong rapport with and who has recommended or feels you can benefit from EMDR therapy?

-Have you engaged in other types of therapy where you have gained skills or tools and now want to go deeper?

Feel free to book a free 15-minute consult.  I am happy to talk with you and see if an EMDR intensive session is right for you.
